Sky News - Lunchtime Live30 May 2007 A relaxed and confident Aisleyne gave the viewers her take on the Big Brother format, plus her hopes for the eighth series starting that evening. Screen grabs of Aisleyne's appearance can be seen in The Gallery - TV & Radio section. Kay Burley alternated questions between Sue Carroll and Aisleyne. Here's a transcript just of Aisleyne's interview:
Aisleyne: "Yes, you are aware of that, but having no contact with the outside world, it's a very scary feeling. The only contact you do get is on Friday night when Davina speaks to the house and you can hear reactions from the crowd, so you are sort of aware but there is no way you can judge peoples reactions, at all." KB: "Are you always aware of the cameras, etc?" Aisleyne: "You are, but then again you're not, as well. It's really difficult when you are in that situation; there is no experience quite like it. You forget that they're there, but then you hear them whizzing around and you become aware of them again." KB: "Why did you want to do it?" Aisleyne: "I didn't actually want to do it to be honest; I went for an audition ...." KB: "They all say that Aisleyne." (Aisleyne laughs) "Know yourself, little girl." (more laughter from Aisleyne) Aisleyne: "I went for an audition with a friend of mine and ended up going through all the rounds, and I just thought, 'alright, I may well give it a go.'" KB: "Were there lots of times when you were inside the BB house and you thought, 'that's enough, I'm not doing this ... I want to go'?" Aisleyne: "Yes, I wanted to leave on quite a few occasions. It's quite an emotional journey, it's not just a TV programme. You do go through your own personal journey in there. But I'm glad I did it, it's an amazing experience." KB: "I do want to touch on the racism issue. Obviously there will be an apology today, before the show starts. At any stage could you have imagined finding yourself in that position where it was so intense, with people screaming and shouting at each other, and almost out of control?" Aisleyne: "What do you mean, imagine myself saying a racist comment or ..?" KB: "No, I'm not suggesting that for a moment. What I'm saying is racist comments were made, but that was as a result of an argument. Is it very easy to find yourself in an explosive situation when it's being manipulated in that way?" Aisleyne: "It is easy to find yourself in that situation. However I think, with Celebrity BB, the housemates obviously need to be aware that they have people looking up to them and so there is no room for mistakes like that. They need to be very careful in Celebrity BB because they are on a pedestal and people follow them." KB: "Do you think the show has run its course, Aisleyne?" Aisleyne: "No, but I wish my one was the last one. It's difficult for ex contestants to see a new one come around, but I'll be watching it everyday because I'm writing about it. Hopefully, it hasn't run its course. BB has always got twists and turns, and new exciting things that you are just not expecting - for example when I went into the house-next-door, I couldn't have imagined that happening. So, I think as long as they keep coming up with fresh ideas, hopefully, it will keep going." Related links: www.aisleyne.com/forum/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=1211&posts=13&start=1 |
