SMUC Radio

27 March 2009

On 24th and 27th March Aisleyne joined DJ Eamonn McCrystal on SMUC Radio, the campus radio station for St Mary's University College. (Eamonn can be seen on Aisleyne's showtape on her website).

On each occasion Aisleyne kept up a steady repartee with "her fellow Irishman" as the discussion ranged widely over various topics from the day's news as well as Big Brother and Aisleyne's current projects. Eamonn tried very hard to extract some advance information on secrets that might be revealed by Ash's upcoming autobiography, but she managed to keep the wraps on.

On the first broadcast, Eamonn introduced Aisleyne with a track by her friend Ne-Yo and told us that Ash was dancing away in the studio. They then talked about Ash's clothing range, her "best ever" entrance "out of the box" into BB7, Grace/Susie and "Watergate". Ash said she would go back into a BB Allstars "if they paid me enough!". Ash spoke of her sadness at Jade Goody's recent tragic death. It was very clear that Eamonn had been doing some research on Aisleyne's website as he asked her about things that she had recently posted about, such as her cat Princess's "diamond studded pink bling lead", No Smoking Day, Dead Set, Snog Marry Avoid and, of course, her (still embargoed) book. She DID reveal that she had hoped the book would contain a photo of the baby Aisleyne being pushed in a pram by Boy George, but before Mr O'Dowd could get it for her he had been unfortunately detained - at Her Majesty's Pleaure!

The second programme was equally full of the blarney from Irishman Eamonn and "Limerick Princess" Aisleyne. After more discussion about Jade ("a rose grown out of concrete), Aisleyne confessed to a certain amount of OCD concerning shoe storage and (separately!) toilet cleaning. She then went on to recount her rather hazy recollection of the events of the previous night, which began at the Potion Bar in Ilford, but then seemed to consist of a tour by taxi taking in, among other places, Gatwick Airport. Ash seemed a little worried about the taxi bill!

Both Eamonn and Aisleyne seemed to be enjoying some "good craic" and we are sure that communicated itself across the airwaves to the student population of St Mary's University College, as well as to anyone else listening over the Internet.
