Aisleyne the Bridesmaid

So who were the happy couple? Why, none other than BB7 winner Pete Bennett and his longtime girlfriend Gemma (Cherry) Costin.

We all saw how Aisleyne and Pete became close during their time as housemates, and in the years since then Ash has also become very good friends with Cherry. Aisleyne's book records a highly "interesting" night out the three of them once had together! And of course during Aisleyne's famous trip to Glastonbury she wrote a short piece for the Guardian about an "informal" wedding ceremony the happy couple went through there. This time, however, they were marrying "for real".

But that's not to say that the event was "your average wedding", because, as we know, Pete and Cherry are a far from conventional couple. And so it proved on this occasion. The 200 or so guests (including children - and pets!) gathered, not in a wedding marquee, but in a circus Big Top set up in the grounds of a manor house near Berwick in East Sussex. The dress code was Fancy Dress and just about everything, from the huge green monster sound system to the skull on the wedding cake was, shall we say, unique! Of the groom's speech Aisleyne said: "Pete's speech was mental. I think a few guests were pretty shocked by it all, but it was really fun."

Apart from Pete and Aisleyne, the only other ex-BBer there was Gerry Stergiopoulos of BB8. BB7 Glyn had been due to attend, but apparently he had to cancel at the last minute.

The event was also being filmed for a special celebrity edition of the programme "Four Weddings" to be shown on Living TV, which meant that it was also attended by three other celebrity couples including glamour model Michelle Marsh and Faye Tozer from Steps. So you will eventually be able to see for yourself exactly what an extraordinary spectacle it was.

As for Aisleyne herself, she was one of just two bridesmaids, and her bridesmaid's dress was a plain 60's smock style in blue, though suitably 'Aisleyned' with lace, ribbons, etc. She topped her ensemble off with a highly appropriate beehive hairstyle, and thereby played her supporting role well in keeping with the spirit of the day. A thoroughly independent report described her as looking "lovely".

The News of the World reported that as it got later and the TV cameras stopped rolling events started to get a little "kinky" They quote Aisleyne as saying: "Some guests stripped off afterwards." There was certainly a pool and sauna there, and as Aisleyne could see the way things were heading around midnight she quietly made a strategic withdrawal and retired to bed!

So far as the TV programme is concerned, we understand that the "Four Weddings" which include this one will be shown at the end of the upcoming 13 week series which starts in March 2010. However, as TV schedules can change, it would be wise to logon regularly to www.aisleyne.com to keep updated.
