| That really is a wonderfully attention-grabbing cover in all respects.
Great title, iconic picture, tightly written blurb, great quotes - Amy's "lioness" is just perfect - a fantastic package.
The saying may be that "you can't judge a book by looking at the cover" but you just KNOW this is going to be a cracker of a read. |

I'm 99% certain it is from that shoot, because
a/ The shoot was planned to include the cover picture
b/ The sheer quality of that photograph says so from every aspect, technically and aesthetically. I can't wait to see the rest of them. ![](http://aisleyne.com/forum/images/emoticons/cool.gif) |

| Aisleyne flew to Edinburgh, with a number of her advisors, early this morning.
She is taking part in a series of meeting to discuss new projects linked to the book.

Is that the Scottish component of her No Smoking Campaign?

| I notice that someone else (BB related) is releasing a book on the same day as Aisleyne. To be honest I find it annoying, not that I think the other will sell more necessarily, but I can't help thinking it is no co-incidence. It would be funny if Ash moved her date back or forward. Perhaps it was/is a publicity ploy as a way of trying to push more copies. Don't know how Ash's book will do, though I wish Ash the best. I do think it will needs some heavy promotion apart from the usual signings and "sensational headlines" if it is to stand any chance of pushing a considerable amount of copies.

How annoying? I won't ask who it is and give him/her publicity. |

| In my opinion, Aisleyne's book will tell such a distinctive and compelling story that its sales will not be affected in the slightest by ANY other book, whoever by and whenever published.
And I am also confident that Mainstream/Random House and the others concerned know EXACTLY what needs to be done to achieve the necessary "AIDA" (awareness, interest, desire and action) in the market - or in this case maybe we should modify the usual acronym to Awareness Interest Sales - AIS!

| Excellent, secrethousemate, thanks for that!
When you see it presented like that, that cover really comes across superbly, doesn't it? And the Amy Winehouse comment adds impact too.
I see that W H Smith have the title as just "Aisleyne" |

| Book Bulletin:
For reasons which will be clarified later, the publishers/distributors are particularly keen for the book to be as up to date as possible, within the constraints of the production timetable.
With that in mind Aisleyne produced around 10 additional pages of new material last week alone, and also included a personal photo which had only been taken a few days previously. |

| You may have noted on the Rbooks website for example the book is described as a "trade paperback".
Just a point of information about this format. In essence the only difference between a trade paperback and a hardback is the cover. The layout, content and quality is precisely the same. And the cover of a trade paperback is actually much thicker than the typical cheaper 'mass-market' paperback.
It is a format increasingly favoured in many parts of the publishing business for a variety of reasons.
For one thing it provides for easier stacking and also suits presentation in point-of-sale displays - in places such as supermarkets etc.
That's interesting, innit? |

Oh right, so it's basically a hardback without the hard back. |

| Bit more book gossip:
Apparently, marketing of the book is scheduled to commence from some time in March, which is when production of the book begins, to ensure the book is as topical as possible.
So until then, I'm not expecting much in the way of stories to appear relating to the book. Even after promotion/marketing commences Aisleyne will still not be discussing the actual contents of the book prior to publication in interviews etc. Like she said in that T4 party interview "You'll have to buy the book.." ![](http://aisleyne.com/forum/images/emoticons/wink.gif) |

| Some rather exciting-sounding book gossip:
Aisleyne's book is being distributed by Random House, the biggest selling book publisher in the UK. For each quarter, Random House selects four new titles upon which it concentrates its promotional and marketing efforts, and I understand that 'Aisleyne: Surviving Guns, Gangs and Glamour' is one of the 4 chosen books in the particular three months.
Apparently this means that the book will get dedicated publicity and marketing. It does however also mean that the extra attention that will be paid to it requires that as much as possible of the text has had to be verified or substantiated. The very nature of the contents and the people included - which the book's title and the endorsements on the jacket only hint at - means that legal and privacy issues have also had to be carefully considered and fully cleared.
All this has meant a lot of extra work for Aisleyne, working with the publishers.
Fascinating stuff, eh? ![](http://aisleyne.com/forum/images/emoticons/cool.gif) |
