Kickin' Off - BBC Asian Network

27 October 2007

Aisleyne went along to Chelsea FC's home at Stamford Bridge to cover their match against Manchester City, as part of the Kickin' Off radio show broadcast on the BBC's Asian Network. As she readily admitted to the show's hosts, the Face and the Physio, she's not the world's greatest expert on football, and in fact this was the first match she had ever been to. However, she more than made up for that with her energy and enthusiasm.

During the match, the hosts talked with her about the match and plenty of other things completely unrelated to football. Aisleyne revealed that she grew up in the same neighborhood as Joe Cole and has also met his fellow Chelsea teammate Didier Drogba at a few parties. Several listeners sent in their questions for her as well - topics included WAGs, Charlie Brooker, judging Miss Jamaica UK, and her future plans. She also entered "columnist mode" and helped her fellow presenters with their personal problems. Gos seemed especially grateful with the advice he received for helping him deal with his twin fears of commitment and budgerigars.

Aisleyne proved very lucky with her first ever football match, as the goals came thick and fast resulting in a 6-0 win for Chelsea. She was delighted with this due to her aforementioned links with some of the team's players, who both scored goals during the match. Strangely enough, a lot of the goals happened while Aisleyne was on air, so perhaps Chelsea would be wise to invite her to all of their future matches. She'd certainly like that, as she seemed converted to the wonders of football by the whole experience. Just don't tell her that most matches aren't quite as eventful, OK?
