Action for Children

27 June 2009

Aisleyne is always willing to give her time and support to worthy causes, especially those which resonate with her own life and past experiences.

She was therefore delighted to contribute to a "Celebrity Journeys" art gallery compiled by Action for Children, the national charity that supports and speaks out for the most vunerable children and young people in the UK. Aisleyne was one of a host of celebrities who were asked to draw a picture of an important transformation in their life, highlighting how they have developed since childhood.

Aisleyne chose to illustrate her personal journey from the "Bad Bad House" of her hostel days to the Big Brother House, accompanied by an inspiring message that with "drive and ambition" it's possible to escape circumstances and make good.

Aisleyne's Action for Children Drawing

Her picture can be viewed online as one of 150 similar drawings by politicians/entrepeneurs (Duncan Bannatyne), sports stars (Tim Henman) and actors/entertainers (Jenny Agutter/Kim Wilde), all of which raise awareness of the life journeys that young people make everyday.

At the time of writing, Aisleyne's drawing is actually the most viewed one, by quite a considerable margin, followed by Rod Stewart, Corrie's Helen Worth and Alexei Sayle. However, as this is a charity initiative rather than a popularity poll, Aisleyne says "When you've seen my picture, please take time to look around the gallery. I wanted to inspire young people with my story, and lots of the other pictures do the same."
