The Victory Ball

25 November 2010

On 25th November Aisleyne attended the Victory Ball which was held at London's Natural History Museum to raise funds for Help for Heroes and to honour our servicemen and women.

Help for Heroes is of course a charity that Aisleyne has supported in a number of ways previously. She was one of 100 celebrities and servicepeople who contributed to the "Food for Heroes" recipe book, she helped man the exhibition stand at the London Armed Forces Day parade, and she recorded a video message encouraging support which was played at Help for Heroes concerts.

The ball was held in the museum's magnificent Central Hall and some 600 guests enjoyed a champagne reception followed by a delicious three-course meal. They were also entertained by one of the UK's favourite comedians, impressionist Alistair McGowan and by some stunning Cirque de Soleil-type performers (who moved amongst the tables). Guests were also able to try their luck in a casino managed by The Ritz Club Casino, and also put in their bids in by charity auction led by Lord (Jeffrey) Archer, with generously donated lots from many luxury brands such as Cartier, Dunhill, and Pemberton & Milner.

In keeping with the occasion Aisleyne wore a long black evening gown ("Candice" from her own "Unique by Aisleyne" Collection) and her hair down.

At the same table as Aisleyne was Hollyoaks' Glen Wallace (who Aisleyne met at the recent Alesha Dixon event). Other celebrities attending included Sky TV's Georgie Thompson and Lucie Verasamy, TV presenter Tim Lovejoy and model Peta Todd.

At one point Aisleyne joined a pair of military bandsmen (Lance Bombardier Daniel Richards and Bombardier Guy Ridley) who were there to provide fanfares at appropriate points in proceedings. We have seen some photos of her "on parade" and having a go on one of their trumpets. We don't know how she sounded but she certainly looked good anyway!

Aisleyne thoroughly enjoyed the evening, especially as it also helped raise lots more money for Help for Heroes. Aisleyne had a totally alcohol-free evening and drove back home afterwards.
