MOBO Awards 2010

20 October 2010

This year's MOBO Awards Ceremony was held in Liverpool's Echo Arena on 20th October, and Aisleyne joined many other celebrities in taking the train north to attend.

Between arriving in Liverpool and the event, Aisleyne visited a beauty salon to get herself glammed up for the evening, and was rather put out to find herself being papped in mid-treatment. To our disappointment (and Aisleyne's relief) we have so far been unable to locate any of the resulting pictures!

Now, we all we remember the stir Aisleyne's "double denim" outfit created at the MOBOs way back in 2006, shortly after BB7. These days, of course, Aisleyne cuts a more demure figure on the red carpet, though of course she still draws plenty of media attention.

And so it proved on this occasion, despite intense competition from other glamorous attendees such as Alesha Dixon, Alex Gerrard, Natasha Hamilton among many many others.

What's more, the white dress she chose for the evening had actually been seen on the red carpet before, when Aisleyne attended a film premiere in 2008, and in fact it was several years old even then! Which all goes to show that a classic design can truly stand the test of time. She even said on Twitter that the bright red lipstick she wore for the evening was her Nan's!

Among the media comment, Orange said that Aisleyne was "looking really rather nice in a figure-hugging white frock". OK! Magazine said "Meanwhile we are loving Big Brother 7 star Aisleyne Horgan Wallace’s style. The slender model’s tan set off this white forties frock so well." And she also made an appearance in that week's Sky Showbiz Week's "Best-dressed" gallery.

But of course the red-carpet and the photocall was just for starters, as the action moved inside the arena where hosts Reggie Yates and Alesha Dixon led proceedings through the many awards and guest performances. The event was broadcast live on BBC3, and there were a few on-screen sightings of Aisleyne at her table.

Once the award ceremony was over, it was then time for the after-parties. Aisleyne was fortunate enough to have an invite to the bash hosted by her friend Reggie Yates, who was holding one of his "Trading Places" parties at the Albert Dock’s Blue Bar. That was DEFINITELY the party to be at that evening!

With so many stars attending, either as award nominees, presenters, performers and guests, it was a great opportunity for Aisleyne to catch up with old friends and make some new ones. All the way from getting on the train at Euston, through the red-carpet, the ceremony, the after-party, and even next day on the train home Aisleyne mingled with the likes of Tinie Tempah, Giggs, Skepta, Professor Green, Mark Ronson, Ricky Whittle and many many more.

Among the new friends Aisleyne made at the event was Zimbabwean X-factor competitor Gamu Nhengu - Aisleyne tweeted that they had a "cute chat" and she wanted to be Gamu's "older sister".

One of the gossip sites confessed that they were not experts on matters MOBO and they wisely relied on Aisleyne's expert judgment for a final verdict on the event, so we'll conclude our report by quoting the same tweet when Aisleyne said "Best. Mobos. Ever." Well, that's clear enough. Innit?
