Isn't Charlie Brooker playing the Endemol game now? Screenwipe is actually produced by Endemol. Don't assume Ais is in for an easy ride.

Excellent! Haven't seen the programme before. What's Ash likely to be doing?

BBC4, eh? If you'd drawn BBC4 in a sweep entitled "Which TV channel will Aisleyne appear on next?" you wouldn't have fancied your chances would you?

Next, her own show on Radio 3 or Classic fm?

Is that not the episode that was on this monday (19th)?

I've never heard of this show before (or him) but it looks like it could be fun.

Hope Ash gets something good to do and that he doesn't try to make fun of her.

First ofni with his suzzies and now this! What is everybody on?

Anyway, to get back on topic, Aisleyne is on Charlie Brooker's Screen Wipe on Monday 26th Feb at 10 pm.

It's repeated at 12.50 am and again on Feb 28th at 11.05 pm. They'll probably be other repeats too, as they're always repeating things on BBC4.

Charlie Brookers good , he even had Grace Dent on one episode (I think it was the Christmas one) he also slagged off Nikki and Grace in that episode Yay!!

Basically the show complains about the awful state of modern media , but then also champions something that doesn't get a lot of press.

Does anyone know what Ash's role is in next week's show?

That means I wont get to see this and I am fed up...that ruddy aeriel has been up there on the roof for 3 years....and now.....doh!

A big thanks to Claire for giving us lots of notice.

I have caught bits of Charlie Booker's show and I quite liked it. I had never quite managed to make the connection before that he was the person from the Guardian that wrote good things about Ash during BB. Hats off to Charlie for giving Ash another break.

I'm looking forward to it. And ofni, I agree, I'd certainly never have predicted Ash would be on BBC4.

Looking at that list again, if you ignore the scheduling conventions, and think of the actual times and days, then Aisleyne will in fact be on TV every weekday next week from Monday to Friday, (especially for those FMs who never seem to go to bed!)

Oh and if you plan to be watching the 12.50am Monday (ie Tuesday!) repeat, then check out the film "The Blue Dahlia" on Channel 4 (starts at 12.30 and is still on when Screenwipe finishes). Remember Aisleyne's "1940's" Screen Siren" shoot in Closer mag? When I saw those pictures she immediately reminded me of Veronica Lake who is in this film with Alan Ladd.

If you can't wait to see what I mean, check out this link:

http://www.briansdriveintheater.com/veronicalake.html

ETA: I thought I remembered posting about Veronica Lake when the Closer shoot came out. I just checked and I did indeed. Unfortunately, it was in "another place"

I received this from today's BBC4 weekly mail-out...

"CHARLIE BROOKER'S SCREENWIPE
Mon 26 Feb
In the last of the current series, the most vicious pen in TV criticism takes a stab at recent programmes, as well as puncturing some of the industry's more ludicrous trends."

A bit vague!

On her radio show I believe Aisleyne described what she's involved in on Screenwipe as "hilarious".

The last time she used that word was to describe what she thought of being declared "Worst Dressed Celebrity 2006" by Orange.

So I'm just wondering if she's using it as a codeword meaning "Don't worry, guys, I get some stick in it but it's all in fun and well worth it to get back on TV".

Hopefully I'm way off the pace, but I just think we need to be prepared and not get too precious or sensitive about it on Aisleyne's behalf if it is that way.

Rough summary for those who missed it...

There was a section on the show about editing. Charlie Brooker then went on to say that it's used a lot in reality TV shows to whittle down 24 hours of footage into a show and often gives a distorted view of things.

He then introduced his own reality TV show featuring a children's entertainer, a runner from the last series, himself and Aisleyne. They were all in a room and chatting, then he went through a list of various edits to distort the truth.

He made it out that Aisleyne fancied him and then that she was bored to pieces by him. He told a joke which got some laughs, but then edited it to give him complete silence in response. There was also an edit to make out he was looking at Aisleyne in a pervy way.

It ended with him saying that actually he and Aisleyne have been married for the past few years. Things then cut to a montage of him and Aisleyne getting romantic in a park. He then revealed that she had to be paid to do this and they had to hold up a picture of Richard Madeley to get her in the romantic mood!

Charlie B clearly set this up just so he could get to hug Aisleyne, and live out his fantasy that he's been married to her for two years! Charlie's got the ho-o-ots, Charlie's got the ho-o-ots! Ner nerner ner ner!

That was so funny, and how exquisitely appropriate that it was all about the editing of reality shows. AND there was certainly plenty of screentime for Ash too. Absolutely superb!

And then, when it was all over, we got good ol' Grace Dent to soften the blow. What a bonus!

It was also nice to see Grace Dent later on in the programme. Like Charlie Brooker, she's another TV critic who wanted Aisleyne to win Big Brother...

She was good, and looked amazing!

Charlie Brooker certainly gave her a sympathetic treatment, although I noticed she had to provide her own costumes.

It was great to se her moving around again. (as opposed to just photos).

The rest of the show wasn't at all bad. I noted at the end that the announcer said he would be back with a much higher budget next series. Perhaps he'll be allowed to repaint his office.

I hope other TV producers see this and decide to give her more work on the box.

(Richard: 100% - He now thinks he's Ash's fantasy figure)
(Judy 0% - She's known all along that Ash was HIS fantasy figure!)

Good to see Ash back on our screens. Looks like she enjoyed herself.

I'm afraid Grace Dent comes across a lot better on paper than on-screen. I know I'm shallow but I can't stop looking at her teeth when she's on TV!

Thanks for the screen shots Maringo.

I trust we are all going to make our comments on the show in the "Have your say" facility on the website. I suggest the comment should be mainly about the show, with some nice words about Ash "slipped in". I referred to the editing expose and to Grace Dent, though I managed to "mention" Ash appropriately on both points! They only use a "selection" so anything too fanmailish will doubtless be binned. Last night's show was the best he's done - the 10 biggest cock-heads was briliant , stewart lee on the state of teen dramas was spot on and of course .... Aisleyne !
And wasn't she great !

Who would've predicted Ash on BBC4 ?
Hope she gets more work like that .

Grace Dent, Paul Morley, charlie brooker, Tim Teemans -- ya see, all the smart people like Ash .
People like Davina and editors of Heat like Nikki .

it was good to see especially as the programme is made by a branch of Endemol (how ironic).
I remember on the day of the final on R&J Paul Morley asked the Big Brother chief why it was biased against Aisleyne. I didnt mind that she denied that (after all do we really expect them to confirm it), but what really annoyed me was how indignate she was at the possible thought and that she wouldnt have a clue how it could be done as they only show what the h/ms say. Come on, its not that hard to see, so why insult people like that

What doom-laden eejit wrote this? Oh it was me wasn't it. Doom-laden eejit.

well, at least, you got the last bit right

You missed it on Monday night and last night.

You can catch it again tonight at 1155 pm on BBC4.

Charlie Brooker's Screenwipe is a sharp-edged programme about TV. Aisleyne appears in a sketch satisrising reality show editing. Not to be missed.

Yes, and if that was Richard Madeley's blog, those two words would have an entirely different meaning.

I have just watched the Youtube clip ( Many thanks for posting that Deeb )

I think Aisleyne looks lovely and it was a reasonably good length of time 'on screen'. I also loved Charlie Brookers' cheek!

If I was honest with you, I was,nt in the slightest bit interested in the product I was just wanting to see what Aisleyne had to do and how she conducted herself...and I am very happy with what I have just seen. I thought it was quite funny when Charlie Brooker said p*** I was,nt expecting it, though Im no saint myself sometimes...LOL

And considering Ash is new to radio presenting, she is doing a great job so far.

Hey! Charlie's on again!

Tonight 11.00pm BBC4.

Charlie Brooker's Screenwipe
2. Screen Wipe dribbles back onto our screens for another go at the unacceptable faces of television, taking a caustic look at the medium and even raising its voice a little. Some strong language. [S]

Hopefully a repeat of the last series? Ash was on prog 4 of 4 wasn't she? Which one's on tonight? So when will Ash be on again? We gotta know!!!!

Thanks for that reminder . Is there a youtube of this Ofni?...I cant remember...if not perhaps we should track one down and put it on here. I dont get BBC4 or BBC3 since I moved only the usual BBC1 and BBC2 (oh long story....ask me about aerials and I will keep you amused for hours!! ) anyway if the youtube is,nt here somewhere probably best to track it down and stick it on for the poor souls like me who get shortchanged on a daily level...

Isn't it on or linked from this site somewhere, because isn't that how Ash finally got to see it? OA posted about it when she was online for a couple of hours late on a few days ago. It's not just that it's another chance for those of us who can (sorry, Blossom!) to see her again, but it must be good for her to be getting TV exposure again.

Maybe Richard Madeley might see it this time. And I read the other day that Judy was wanting out of the R&J programme, and that there could be a vacancy ...... "Richard & Aisleyne" - hmmmmmm.........

Odm - you're in good company. Aisleyne asked me the same question about 10 days ago - apparently Charlie Brooker had asked her several times if she'd seen programme, and she'd had to say she hadn't. I told Ash that her part of show has been in the Video section since a few days after it aired. She left forum and went straight to watch it.

Her reaction, as I posted at the time:

Tonights show was the video games one, which looks like it was Show 2. Looking at the schedules, Show 3 is on tomorrow night, and Show 4 (the one with Aisleyne, if I remember rightly - PLEASE correct me if I'm wrong!) is THIS TUESDAY at 11.00pm repeated at 1.30am.

On Wednesday night at 10.30pm there is a Screenwipe Special Edition, which according to the schedule is a "Special edition of the caustic TV-related rantfest compiling several hilarious reports examining the ghastly backside of television". I read that as very possibly a compilation of the sketch sections which if true would also include Aisleyne. Any way of checking that out "through channels"?

Ye-e-e-ess! Good stuff!

Did anyone else consider that Nikki's appearance was rather cardboard cut-out and two-dimensional in comparison with Aisleyne's fully rounded performance?

I wonder if the compilation programme will get a showing on BBC2 in a "4 on 2" slot?

Actually a damn fine show whether Ash's bit was there or not.
Going on about how much it costs to make a TV prog, all the staff, the copyright clearance and stuff.

Very definitely. Fortunately, I was watching that bit from a good distance.

I liked that bit, Sh** Jiggy Nikki. Endemol are probably commissioning this as we speak!

Nice to see the Aisleyne segment used again at the end and it wasn't just a compilation of this series, there were also bits of the last series too.

It's on again twice on Saturday, perhaps they should rename the channel BBC Fourgan-Wallace?

As a precursor to the upcoming new series of Screenwipe, I see that the Screenwipe Guide to TV is on BBC4 this Tuesday at 10pm (+repeats). Presumably it's a repeat of what we saw in March, and therefore will include Aisleyne and Richard Madeley again?

I don't suppose that those 4 TV grabs of Aisleyne in the gallery could possibly be from a new featured spot she's got in each episode of the new Screenwipe series?

That would be just too cool for words.........

Ah, if only........

Thanks! Looks like two more screenings before the new series...

Charlie Brooker's Screenwipe (Magazine Programme)
Starting: 22:00 on Tuesday 18th September. Duration: 30 minutes

Maybe, maybe not. But at least I threw a few letters into the asterisk stream!

BTW Who was that blonde on Screenwipe just then? She's almost as gorgeous as that brunette in the banner at the top of this page.

So has anybody been watching the new series of this? Is it any good?

I missed the first episode, but I'll probably record tonight's repeat at 9.30pm.

I watched last week and its just as good as ever. Charlie having his say on the recent controversies regarding 'faked' polls and dodgy editing etc.

Apparently he is not allowed to speak over the end credits either, its a rule of television and can't be broken, so he had to tape his mouth up LOL

He did another piece on editing and showed a clip from BB diary room explaining how whenever there's a cut-away to a shot outside the DR this is to cover an edit .

it was pretty good , he had a go at X-factor (or whatever its called now) , sadly no Ash tho .

does anyone know if ash is going to be in this series ?

k

I wonder if the compilation programme will get a showing on BBC2 in a "4 on 2" slot?

Well it's taken 7 months, but I was right to wonder!

The Screenwipe Guide to TV, which of course includes Aisleyne's first appearance on Screenwipe (cue Demis Roussos etc), is due to be shown on BBC2 on 31st October at 11.50pm.

Could this mean the second series might get an airing on BBC2 as well?

By the time Ash appears toward the end of the programme, it'll be November 1st which is All Saints, so it'll be entirely appropriate for an appearance of St Aisleyne!

Considering it started at around 12.20, just when the programme finished, I think it's quite likely.

After the whole "Queen in a mood" controversy, the BBC are now teaching their editorial staff how to avoid similar mistakes. Interestingly, the training video features a segment from Charlie Brooker's Screenwipe, so perhaps it could be the one on misleading editing that features Aisleyne?

Seems more than possible, given the context. I so hope it is. The thought of Aisleyne being compulsory viewing for squadrons of BBC staff is just too delicious not to be true!

Maybe coincidental, but this blog entry (by an academic/trainer at Uni of Central Lancs) seems to be a pointer that the reality show clip could well be the "object lesson" being used.

Well, she has already had a few of her "lessons" air on TV this week...

Thanks! Hopefully, he won't become a victim of the bad editing practices he highlighted on the Aisleyne CBSW segment.
